Part A: Looking at Metadata

  1. Find your profile page on the wiki. You can do this by searching for your name.
  2. Click Edit on this page, and then click on the arrow beside the Save button. Choose the option “Wikitext Editor”.
  3. The Wikitext editor will open and you will be able to see your profile page with some of the metadata showing.

Find 2 examples of metadata (words or symbols that do not show up in the “normal” wiki view.

Part B: Create a webpage

  1. Go to Notepad (Start>Programs>Accessories>Notepad) and type out the HTML in the metadata example
  2. Save this file in your H: drive as “test.html” (you will have to put the quotes around the file name. Do not close Notepad
  3. Go into Firefox and select File > Open File and select your file.

Go back to the HTML file. Can you change the title of the website? When you do so, you will need to Refresh the web page in Firefox.
